The Massachusetts General Court passed this Act on February 6, 1787. It appropriates forty thousand pounds to be used to pay the Militia who had been called up to suppress the insurgents of Shays' Rebellion. It also empowers the treasurer of the Commonwealth to borrow this forty thousand pounds.
