This advertisement from Breck, Shephard, and Clark of Northampton, Massachusetts, proclaims that they have just received a general assortment of goods from India and Europe. It lists 39 different kinds of fabric as well as the trimmings, threads and other items needed for dressmaking. There are also tools for carpenters, harness makers, shoemakers and farmers, eating utensils, china, tea, coffee, chocolate, and wine. This shop carried almost everything a household would need or want.
