In September 1675, a convoy of farmers transporting grain and the soldiers escorting them, walked heedlessly into a Native American ambush in what would become South Deerfield, Massachusetts. Only a single man escaped what became known as the Bloody Brook Massacre. A photographer recorded in this postcard the buildings and pastoral landscape of Bloody Brook in 1911. The large building in the distance is the Arms Manufacturing Company. The Arms factory made leather pocketbooks, purses, wallets and calling card cases.
