The Massachusetts State Legislature designated the Mohawk Trail a scenic route in 1914. Running 41 miles between Greenfield and North Adams, Massachusetts, this road became (and remains) a popular tourist destination. At the time this postcard was made, the road was improved but not paved; no painted white line aided drivers in staying on the road in fog or heavy rain. <BR>Note the stones that act as a guard rail at the curve.
