As the time for a decision on the location of the trolley tracks in Deerfield approaches, Miss Baker writes to the Sheldons of the important people she has contacted to help their cause. She repeats that she has "done the best I could." She praises "clean politics" and hopes they will be practiced in this case and suggests that the Sheldons show Mr. Warner, who managed to remove the trolleys from an historic street in Boston, photos of Deerfield and to emphasize the restoration of the houses. Miss Baker's passion about the town of Deerfield is evident in her letter.
