Between 1748 (age 17) and 1757 (age 26), John Partridge Bull served in the military in both enlisted and appointed positions. By the time his military career ended on January 23, 1757, he had seen active duty for a total of eighteen and a half months.

John Partridge Bull's military service had direct bearing on his development as a craftsman. Investigating this portion of Bull's life gives us a sense of how his craft was being shaped and employed within western Massachusetts.
