The same day that the Greenfield, Massachusetts newspaper reported on the effects influenza epidemic in the neighboring town of Turners Falls, the town's newspaper included this short article. It states that the schools and churches are closed and that it is very noticeable that children are not out playing. This indicated that they were being kept at home, away from other people. The article also comments about the effect of the epidemic on the local doctors, nurses and hospital and that everyone is hoping for better weather so the illness would subside.
