The Teachers' Institute was to be held from the week of April 12, 1852 from Monday morning till Saturday noon in Deerfield, Massachusetts. This institute was funded by the state Board of Education and was open to all public school teachers. Interestingly enough, the participants were required to bring not only the items needed to take notes, but also a Bible and a Dictionary.
