Bags with beaded decorations were created as personal items. This one is made of black cloth with white, blue and green beaded decorations characteristic of the Micmac or Maliseet peoples of northern Maine and eastern Canada. Micmac and Maliseet peoples often used this double curve motif for ornamentation.
