Taxidermists attempted to impart a life-like and naturalistic appearance to the animals they treated. Realism was particularly important to museums that used preserved animals for displays. This price list for a taxidermist in Lynn, Massachusetts, just north of Boston, gives an overview of the types of animals that he stuffed for his customers. He appears to have specialized in birds, but also catered to those who wished to preserve a favorite pet.
