Goshen, Massachusetts, was incorporated in 1781 and is one of the "Hill" towns of western Massachusetts. Several lakes and a state forest make Goshen a destination for tourists. This picture is of The Whale Inn. The building dates to the late 18th century and has hearthstones of Goshen schist stone. The building was named The Whale Inn by Arthur Warner of Florence, Massachusetts, who said he had always heard that "The Whale, he swam around the ocean and landed Jonah up in Goshen."
