Bridge Street is the main business district of the village of Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, and has been for over 150 years with businesses and public offices lining both sides. The iron bridge at its end is the only one to connect the two sides of Shelburne Falls - Buckland and Shelburne - so the road is and was heavily traveled. This 1906 image shows some of the newer technology available with telephone and telegraph wires lining the south side of the street. Saturday night on Bridge Street was shopping night. Band concerts were held in front of Memorial Hall and people covered the sidewalks, indulging in hot peanuts and popcorn and cool ice cream.
