Every quilt tells a story, but usually its message is not spelled out in words. This is not the case with the quilt top made by Electa Field, which reads: "BE YE WARMED" "HOLINESS TO THE LORD I REJOICE THEREFORE THAT I HAVE CONFIDENCE IN YOU IN ALL THINGS" " TO MISSIONS" ELECTA FIELD" CONWAY, MASS". In 1828, Electa Field married David Edson of Buckland MA, who had eight children from his previous wife; Electa and David had five children. Since the piecework is not joined together, we will never be certain how Electa intended to layout the quilt top.
