Tobacco is an especially labor intensive crop. Michael Waskiewicz, one of the third generation on the J & J Farm, uses a tobacco hatchet to cut the stalks. Hand work is necessary to fasten the tobacco on frames and hang the loaded frames to dry in well-ventilated tobacco barns.
