Agnes Higginson wrote to her daughter, Agnes Fuller, soon after the birth of Agnes Fuller's son. The letter includes news of the family, and lots of advice on how to care for the baby and herself. Higginson also alludes to a scare the family had had with sketchy news of the campaign in Florida which involved the First South Carolina Volunteers, a regiment of former slaves, headed by Thomas Wentworth Higginson - "Uncle Wentworth". She also includes news of other relatives who are involved with the war effort.
