This cherry drop leaf table was probably made by a member of the Munn family of woodworkers in Deerfield, 1740-1780. It was owned by the Hoyt family in the Old Indian House. The shaped skirts at each end are applied and intended to accentuate the curvature of the legs. Two of the four legs are fixed and the other two move to support the leaves. Benjamin Munn (1683-1774) and his son Benjamin (1708-c.1788) were carpenters. The second Benjamin's son, also a Benjamin (1738-1824) and nephew Francis (1743-1818) were joiners.
