The statistics presented here offer an unique glimpse into the development of industry in the Massachusetts counties of the Connecticut Valley. Four major categories from the 1895 census are presented here: the number of establishments, by industry, in each of the towns of Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden Counties; the date of establishment of particular industries by town; the amount of stock and number of shareholders per town by year; and the date of establishment by industry of firms in towns.
