Will Hutchins, Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Will Hutchins went to New Haven
Wednesday to receive the degree of
Bachelor of Fine Arts at the commencement exercises of Yale university. This degree is given to one person every year, usually a graduate of
Yale, who has achieved distinction in
the fine arts. The degree was conferred on Mr. Hutchins by President
Hadley, and many friends will be
glad that his unusual gifts win this
recognition. |

Born in 1878 in Westchester, CT, Will Hutchins was a writer, lecturer, painter and teacher. In Deerfield he led numerous classes on art theory, framing, and sketching from life, as well as leading the Harrow Theater in several productions. In 1909 Yale granted him the Degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts. It was a great honor which elevated his status in town.
