Rev. G. REYNOLDS, Sec'y INDIAN EDUCATIONAL WORK
WALTER S. BLANCHARD, Treas. FRANCIS TIFFANY, IN CHARGE
NO. 25 BEACON STREET ROOM 7

AMERICAN UNITARIAN ASSOCIATION.
MONTANA INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL FOR CROW INDIANS
ALANSON A. SPENCER, SUPERINTENDENT

Boston, Mass., March 21 1891

Mrs Emeline V. Ward,

Dear Madam,
I thank you most
cordially for your contribution of
Ten Dollars to our Montana Indian
School. I do not believe our Unitarian
body is any where doing a more
useful, hopeful, & blessed work than
in this mission school. The change
wrought in the Indian boys & girls by
six months subjection to the civilizing,
industrial, & religious influences brought
to bear on them, is most encouraging.

As you request that your
contribution shall simply be credited in
the Register to "A Friend", I will see that it is
done. Thanking you again for your help. Sincerely Yours
Francis Tiffany

label levels:

There is currently no available "Beginner" label. The following is the default level label: Indian schools were often sponsored by churches. The Montana Industrial School for Crow Indians received support from the American Unitarian Association. These mission schools were designed to "de-Indianize" the Native children and to introduce them to Christian religion through education. This letter thanks Emmeline V. Ward for her anonymous contribution of ten dollars.
