Norwich Decbr 18, 1786

Dear Sister

it is solong since a line
has passed between us yt I have for-
got how ye account stands, but am
afraid i am in debt will therefore
desire you to accept these six lines
as a proof of my desire to lessen
it: I have not time to say much
only just to inquire after your health
and your families are you still joging
on in ye old road? do you never in
tend to take a step out of Dfd?
is any thing doing at home to
prevent your taking a trip this way
if Cyder is so scarce this way that
we have not a sufficient quantity to
set out a vinegar Voyage with, but all
things are wisely ordered I dont intend
to grumble about it let be as
it will. Seven is a tolerable decent
number, poor Patty will have but
two if she goes to Toland, tho how
I can crow over her my work -all

label levels:

There is currently no available "Beginner" label. The following is the default level label: Cynthia (Williams) Leffingwell married an older man with an established family and moved from Deerfield, Massachusetts, to Norwich, Connecticut. She was the sister of William Stoddard Williams. In this letter to her younger sister, Cynthia inquires of the goings-on Deerfield, particularly relating to the activities resulting from Shays' Rebellion. She has been reading the newspaper, probably has seen accounts of fighting, and hopes that her friends and family in Deerfield are not involved.
