Turners Falls, Massachusetts was a planned industrial community from its founded in 1867 by Alvah Crocker. It is part of the town of Montague. Located on a bend of the Connecticut River, the natural falls were enhanced by a dam. Water was also diverted into a power canal, and large brick factories lined either side. This view shows factory buildings looking east across the river.
