When she was 4 years old, Elizabeth Brooks Fuller's uncle, Augustus Vincent Tack, painted this picture of her. Elizabeth was the daughter of George Spencer and Mary Williams (Field) Fuller. Tack showed this painting at the 63rd show of the Boston Art Club in 1901. Later that year, Tack showed the picture at the Old Home Week Exhibition of Arts and Crafts in Deerfield, where one viewer noted that: "the delightful picture of little Elizabeth is one that the visitor dwells on longest. It is a really ideal picture of childhood, 'moving about in worlds not yet realized,' as Wordsworth says in his great ideal poem of the child."
