Pageants were a popular manifestation of the Arts and Crafts movement. In 1910, 1913, and 1916, Deerfield, Massachusetts, hosted historical pageants described as having "embraced episodes from the history of the town from the purchase of the lands by John Pynchon of Springfield until after the war of the Revolution." This hand-colored photograph depicts actors posing as Native Americans in a pageant.
