The machinery in this clock was probably made in Connecticut and sold by peddlers. The grained pine case was probably made by a local woodworker. The graining was supposed to look like fancy woods. Timepieces were becoming more affordable and more commonplace in the nineteenth century. This one was owned by Orlando Ware (1779-1860), who placed it in his Deerfield, Massachusetts, general store.
