By 1838, more and more people were arguing over slavery. The anti-slavery movement was growing but leaders of the movement like William Garrison were not well liked by many yet. The cover of this anti-slavery almanac shows Garrison chopping down the tree of slavery, while men who are for slavery prop up the tree.
