In the name of God Amen On the twenty
ninth day of May Anno Domini 1799 I Esther
Williams of Deerfield in the County of Hampshire
and Commonwealth of Massachusetts Am through
the goodness of God of sound Mind and memory
considering the uncertainty of Life esteem it my
duty and do accordingly make and ordain this to
be my last Will and Testament First of all I give
my Soul into the hands of a Merciful God
hoping for a gracious acceptance thro’ the Merits
of my only Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and my
Body to the dust to be buried in decent and Christian
burial in good hope of the reunion of Soul and Body
to a Resurrection of immortal Life and Glory

And as touching my worldly Estate I give and
dispose of the same, in the following manner viz.^tImprimis I ordain that my just Debts and funeral
charges be paid in suitable time after by decease
by my Executors

Item I give and bequeath unto my loving Daughters
Cynthia Leffingwell wife of Hezekiah Leffingwell
Mary Ashley wife of Doct. Elihu Ashley and Mar-
tha West wife of Doct. Jeremiah West all my
household furniture and wearing apparel,
excepting one Silver Tankard also all the monies
that may be due to me at the time of my decease
(excepting what is bequeathed in my Will to my
Grandson Joseph Hawley Dwight) to be equally
divided

Esther and Thomas Williams of Deerfield, Massachusetts, had 7 living children. All are named in the will, the 3 daughters' money to be given to them over time, probably already having gotten their share when Dr. Williams died 25 years earlier. The silver tankard mentioned in the will, made by Boston silversmith, Jeremiah Dummer and given to Stephen West Williams, son of William, her son, can still be seen in Deerfield.
