Lt. David Hoyt, born in 1651, was captured by French and Native Americans during the Deerfield Raid in February 1704, and died of starvation at Coos, New Hampshire in May 1704. This list of his household things, tools, and clothing help us to understand the life and belongings of an early 18th century person in a frontier town. As one can see by the totals, the value of his land and buildings (79 pounds, 19 shillings, 3 pence) is much greater than the debts he owed (27 pounds, 6 shillings).
