Eliezer Hawks (1659-1727) of Deerfield, Massachusetts, as the one in charge of the land and property of his recently deceased son-in-law, Thomas Taylor, appoints Henry Dwight of nearby Hatfield to be his lawyer. Thomas Taylor was married to Hawks' oldest daughter, Thankful (b.1690), when he drowned at Northfield in 1717. Her father takes legal action to call in the money owed to her deceased husband in order to provide for the young widow.
