Hampshire Ss. To ye Constables for ye Town of Deerfield or either of them, – Greeting

You are hereby required in ye Name of ye State of ye Massachusetts Bay, forthwith to
notify and warn ye Inhabitants of ye Town of Deerfield being free & above ye Age of twenty one Years, to
Assemble and meet together at ye School House in Deerfield upon Monday ye seventh Instant
at four of ye Clock in ye Afternoon then and there after a Moderator is chose to consider and
Determine whether they will give their consent that ye present House of Representatives
of this State of ye Massachusetts Bay in New England, together with ye Council, if they
consent in one Body with ye House and by equal Voice, should consult, agree on, and enact such a Constitution and Form of Government for this State, as ye said House of Representatives and
Council as aforesaid, on the fullest and most mature Deliberation shall judge will most (endure?)
to ye Safety, Peace, and Happiness of this State, in all after a successions and Generations.
agreeable to a Recommendation from ye House of Representatives of this State. Dated
ye 7th of September 1776

Hereof fail not and make Return of this Warrant with you Doings thereon by the
Time prefixed for said Meeting
