H. Pease, Sec’y,
Wason Mft. Co.,
Brightwood, Mass.

My dear sir;--

Referring to your letter of May 29th, we had already
noted that the whistles on our two new cars were an aggravation to
mankind, and after perusing your letter we see the reason why. If
you can get the more expensive whistles in season to install on even
one of the cars yet to be delivered to us, please do so, and if you
can get them there in season to install on the three cars, you may do
that. Would it be possible for you to secure enough of these whistles
for the whole five cars and allow us to return the other whistles
to you with an expense to us of $4.00 per car for such exchange? If
so, you may order enough for the whole five cars.

We await your advice and beg to remain,
Very truly yours,

C.V. ST. RY. CO.

Letter from Connecticut Valley Street Railway Company regarding Trolley whistle After 8 years of running, there have been complaints about the whistles on the trolley cars being an "aggravation to mankind." This letter tries to correct the bothersome problem by ordering new, more expensive, whistles for all the 5 cars on the line. Note the speediness of the reply as well as the speed of the mail delivery; the complaint was received on May 29, 1908, and this reply was written the next day, May 30, 1908.
