Seth (1787-1860) and Caroline (1789-1865) Sheldon had four children, only one of them a daughter, Arabella, born in 1812. At age sixteen in 1828 she is sent to dancing school to learn the social graces necessary to become a young woman in the new republic. The receipted bill, signed by what one assumes is the dancing teacher, Mr. Paulette, is for one quarter of the tuition, four dollars.
