Lucinda Nims was the oldest child of the 6 surviving children of Seth and Electa (Arms) Nims. Her father left her his house when he died in 1831, "so long as she remained unmarried." In her will Lucinda gave cash to her brothers and sisters and to their children. Her mother was given a share of the house to live in until she died, and the rest of her property Lucinda Nims left to the husband of her next younger sister, following the usual custom of leaving land and buildings to male members of families.
