The war in 1812 between the United States and Great Britain stopped trade between the two countries but by 1814, English manufacturers like the British pottery that produced this pitcher were eager to sell again to Americans and regain some of their best customers. A British pottery produced this pitcher celebrating American naval victories over Britain in the War of 1812. It shows American heroes Captain Isaac Hull and Captain Jacob Jones.
