At the time of the diagram (c.1829) John Wilson was probably living in a house on Lot 17, at the south end of the main street of Deerfield. His orchard, planted to the back, or west, of the lot behind the house, had 26 fruit and nut trees. The orchard had mostly apples for eating, cooking, and for cider, and also had a catalpa tree at the far southwestern edge of the plot, a hop tree (probably for brewing beer), a Madeira nut tree, and other fruits.
