Labeled "New Patent Muzio Clemente Cheapside London," this 1805 piano is set into a frame on four legs. The case is of mahogany with secondary woods of satinwood, holly, and cypress. Brought to Deerfield, Massachusetts, in 1808, and thought to have been the first piano in Franklin County, it belonged to Susan Barker of Hingham, Massachusetts, who married Deerfield minister Samuel Willard in May 1808.
