This steel knife sharpener is almost eleven inches long. It was meant to be used by a carver just before cutting meat. The carving knife was run along the sharpener's rough sides to make an edge. This knife sharpener was part of a wedding present to Charlotte Wardner Lamson when she married Charles Hyde Warren in 1905. She was the grand-daughter of Ebenezer Lamson, one of the original partners of the Lamson & Goodnow Company of Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts..
