Orange, Massachusetts was one of the three largest towns in Franklin County at the turn of the century and was one of the largest manufacturing sites in northwestern Massachusetts. This postcard was probably intended to be purchased by one of the thousands of workers who worked in its factories, which included the New Home Sewing Machine Company (600 employees in 1900), the Rodney Hunt Machine Company (125 employees), the Jay B. Reynolds Company (250 employees), the Orange Furniture Company, and the National Keg and Box factory (100 employees).
