Washing sheets with an automatic washing machine is considerably easier than washing them with one that has a wringer, and that is considerably easier than washing them with a scrubboard and a tub. This hand-cranked invention, produced by the Lovell Manufacturing Company in Erie, Pennsylvania, was intended to make "less hard work for mother," by more or less automatically squeezing out the excess water from the rinse tub so that the clothes would dry more quickly on the line.
