This photograph of the Arms Manufacturing Company in South Deerfield, Massachusetts, was taken in 1902 by an unknown photographer. In 1845 Dennis Arms founded the company which at the time employed only two or three people to make pocket books out of leather that Arms tanned himself. By the 20th century, workers in the factory made all kinds of pocket books, bill books, letter books and card cases. The original factory building burned in 1889 and a new building was immediately built on the site. This photo shows a third and fourth-story tower addition.
