W. R. Howard, the author of the letter of February 19, 1900, writes to Miss Baker [C. Alice Baker (1833-1909)] in response to an appeal from Miss Baker asking him to support the laying of the trolley tracks outside of the main street of Deerfield. He feels that the advantages of a line through the middle of town would far outweigh the disadvantages. He does, however, refer Miss Baker to his mother, whom he declares is the owner of the property and admits that she may feel differently.
