Ellen Miller, co-founder of the Deerfield Society of Blue and White Needlework in Deerfield, Massachusetts, also experimented with dyed leather. The July 11, 1906 "Springfield Daily Republican" noted: "In the blue and white exhibit there are shown a great many bags, chatelaine pockets and purses, with adornments wrought in beads on the font, the beads being treated in the same way enamels are to produce effects of color and harmony."
