Post-mortem photographs were one way for families to memorialize their dead. Until photography began available to amateurs in the late nineteenth century, a professional photographer was required to take an image. If an infant or child had not been photographed when they were alive, post-mortems photographs were the only way to procure an image. This tintype was found in the Amos Watson house in Leverett, Massachusetts.
