This is a picture of Frank Dahowski, Jr., of Montague, Massachusetts, stationed in Wallingford, England, in 1943 during World War II (WWII). He was born in 1910, one of eight children of Frank and Sophie Dahowski, residents of Montague, Massachusetts. Due to his life-threatening war injury, he was discharged from the service, a disabled veteran, unable to work when he returned home. Frank and his wife Olga moved to Deerfield after the war, where they built a house on a lot on Dahowski farm. They were members and supporters of the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church in South Deerfield. Frank was a volunteer fireman in Old Deerfield and enjoyed his hobby of restoring and selling antique cars. Olga worked at Greenfield Tap and Die during the war and afterwards, at LaPierre's Electrical Store in Greenfield. They are buried in the St. Stanislaus Cemetery in South Deerfield.
