The resignation of Dr. William Stoddard Williams (1762-1829) of Deerfield, Massachusetts, at age fifty, from the post of surgeon in the militia of the Commonwealth is accepted and Dr. Williams is declared "discharged." Dr. Williams, son, father, and grandfather of physicians, studied medicine with Dr. Erastus Sargeant of Stockbridge, Massachusetts, and he practiced medicine from his home in Deerfield until his death in 1829.
