The appointment of Lemuel Taylor (b. 1748) as quarter master is signed by his brother, Samuel (b.1748), Justice of the Peace. This commission is a standard form asking for integrity and good conduct in discharging his duty. It cautions Taylor, in addition, to observe such orders and instructions as he may receive from his Superior officers. Both the Taylor brothers were soldiers in the Revolution. They both settled in Buckland, Massachusetts, and married sisters.
