Cornhusk dolls were popular toys made and used by Native Americans. This doll may have been created to sell to tourists traveling to Maine or eastern Canada in the early 19th century. It is made of cornhusks and has a dark brown wool skirt and leggings trimmed with red fabric, a calico print tunic and a black silk kerchief. The leggings are part of traditional Native clothing.
