Beaded bags with this type of decorative motif were made by Micmac and Maliseet peoples from northern Maine and Eastern Canada in the 19th century. This beaded bag was made by an artisan in the 1860s using red wool with green cloth edging and with a multi-colored floral beaded decoration. The decorative motif used on this bag was also used on baskets, clothing, and footwear.
