This photograph, dating to the early 20th century, illustrates the trolley cars themselves and the men who were responsible for their operation. The motormen/conductors wore uniforms and caps. The uniforms help to reinforce a railroad-like service with a regular schedule. Three "customers" stand to the left, a man and two young boys. The electric cars, open in the summer (shown in the first two cars) and enclosed (as in the third car) run on tracks laid most often alongside existing roadways. The side curtains could be rolled down when it rained.
