Thomas Williams Ashley (1894-1918), a 1916 graduate of Amherst College, was memorialized in this edition of "The Sabrinian," a publication from the college. The young Deerfield man was killed in action in 1918, the last year of World War I, when he was fighting with the allies in France at Chateau-Thierry. Tom Ashley was much loved by his classmates and was described as honest, straightforward, and dignified and yet "always ready for a rough-house." A letter from a fellow soldier is included.
