This alarm was used in the case of a fire, theft, or other important event in a village. Such alarms also had less exciting uses-scaring birds or other wild animals away from crops or calling people to a meeting. Whether or not this piece was made locally is unknown, but a skilled local woodworker could easily have made such an alarm.
